How to Celebrate the New Year

In general, people celebrate the beginning of the year as a time to start a New calendar year. It is a tradition that the new year begins at the end of the month, but it can also be celebrated at any time of the year.

Romans kept promises for Janus

Xin Nian, also known as the Chinese New Year, is the most important holiday in China. It is celebrated for a period of days, usually from January 21 to February 20 on the Chinese calendar.

When it comes to Chinese New Year, people prepare their homes and have family visits. They also indulge in special foods as well as perform rituals. These rituals are thought to cleanse the home of unlucky luck and to eliminate evil spirits.

The lighting of fireworks is common in many locations to dispel the evil. Dragon dances are also done to bless the people.

It is believed that the Chinese New Year also signifies the start of spring. People exchange good luck wishes and pray for a fruitful harvest.

Coptic

As with all of the other ancient calendars among them, those of Coptic New Year is among the oldest. It was based on the ancient Egyptian calendar. Also, it has a particular spiritual flavour.

This Coptic New Year is celebrated on the first day of the Egyptian month of Thout. It is also called The Feast of the Martyrs. The feast commemorates sacrifice of martyrs, and the beginning of the new year. The feast also honors the people who made a vow of faith their whole lives. The church also celebrates to celebrate the Feast of the Cross, which is celebrated on the 17th day of the month.

The Coptic calendar is divided into three seasons: summer, winter, and the spring. Each season has a distinct significance. It is during the summer that we celebrate the time for floods. A German New Year celebration is a mix of rituals based on animistic beliefs. The fireworks are also a significant element for the occasion. They could be private or even government-sponsored. They may be bright and loud, or quiet and subtle. All over the world, people employ fireworks.
